POUGHKEEPSIE - Martin J. Kane, 87, an area resident for 18 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on March 1, 2019 at his home.
Born in Manhattan on January 15, 1932, he was the son of Michael and Catherine (O'Shea) Kane. Martin proudly served our country in the US Army during the Korean War and then continued his service until his retirement from the Army in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Martin was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Murphy) Kane, in 2004; and his siblings, Michael, Patrick, Johnny, Catherine, Mary, Joseph and Elizabeth. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Martin and Donna Kane, James Kane, Denise Lee, Daniel and Kathy Kane, and Patricia Kane; his grandchildren, Martin, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Wendy, Kenny, Chrissy, Jennifer, Colleen, Melissa, Thomas, Jodie, Amber, Gina, Daniel, Jake, Douglas and Amanda; several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 11am at St. Raymond's Cemetery with military honors.
