Mary A. Bain, 86, of Hopewell Junction, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Munich, Germany on December 18, 1927, she was the daughter of Martin and Maria Zach Guntsche. Mary became a citizen of the United States in 1954 after moving to the U.S. in 1950. Mary worked in Medical Records at Green Haven Correctional Facility until her retirement in 1992. She loved listening to radio programs, gardening and doing crossword puzzles.
Mary met Howard T. Bain, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, while he was stationed in Munich, Germany as an MP in the United States Military. On January 24, 1950 in Munich, Germany, Mary married Howard T. Bain who predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Howard M. Bain and his wife Renée Paget-Bain of Hopewell Junction; and her brother Paul Guntsche and his wife, Luise of Munich, Germany. She was also predeceased by her brother, Martin Guntsche and his wife, Elisabeth.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by interment in Hopewell Cemetery.
