Mary T. Griffin, 77, a resident of Fishkill since 1992 and formerly of Yorktown Heights, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center surrounded by her husband and their three sons.
Born in County Galway, Ireland on October 8, 1936, she was the daughter of Martin and Kate Glynn Higgins. Mary was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and enjoyed the Fishkill Seniors programs. More than anything, she loved her grandchildren and many trips to Ireland over the years.
On May 23, 1964 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in the Bronx, Mary married Michael Griffin. They recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary. After their many years of marriage, they still enjoyed long walks and cups of tea together each day. Mary is survived by her loving husband Mike their sons and their wives; Michael and Anne Griffin of Thornwood, Patrick and Pam Griffin of West Dundee, IL and Brendan and Sandie Griffin of Beacon; her grandchildren, Michael, Grace, Riley, Kit, Maggie, Libby, Della, Shane and McKenna; and several siblings, nieces, nephews and friends in the US, Ireland and England.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill followed by interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
