Mary Jacques, 83, an area resident since January, died on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She formerly lived in Amawalk, NY, Longmeadow, MA, Southborough, MA, Sudbury, MA and Dorchester, MA.
Born in Dorchester, MA on August 9, 1929, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Thea Dimitrakis Cosmopulos. She grew up in Dorchester, graduated from Dorchester High School for Girls and earned an Associate's Degree from Burdett Business School in 1949. She also attended Greek classes in Boston at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England. On November 26, 1960 in Brookline, MA, Mary married Roger P. Jacques who predeceased her on May 29, 2013.
Mary owned and operated Jackdaw Publications in Amawalk for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, shopping, reading and spending time at their home in Snug Harbor, RI.
Mary is survived by her children, Christine Pena and her husband Tony of Beacon, Adrian Jacques and his wife Karen of Poughquag, and Julie Tremblay and her husband David of Needham, MA; her grandchildren, Anthony and Michael Pena, Lauren and Lexi Jacques, and Luke and Joy Tremblay; her brother, Stavros Cosmopulos, his wife Renee and their children, Nick and his wife Susan, and Thea; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Norris and Bonnie Jacques; sister-in-law, Peggy Jacques; many nieces and nephews; and many cousins in Australia, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
