Obituary

Mary M. Magee, 102, a Glenham resident since 1939, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 22, 2021 at her granddaughter Karen's home in Marlboro.

Born on June 11, 1919 in Beacon, Mary was the daughter of Michael J. and Johanna (Dwan) Tighe. On August 23, 1939 in Spotsylvania, PA, Mary married the love of her life John Louis Magee who predeceased her on August 16, 1987.

Mary grew up in Beacon where she attended St. John's Parochial School and Beacon High School. She worked as a packer for National Biscuit Corporation in Beacon for 4 years. Mary was a charter member of Slater Ladies Auxiliary and a life member of the First Reformed Church of Fishkill. She was also a member of the Fishkill/Glenham Senior Citizens and Mental Health Volunteer. She enjoyed cooking, baking and being a friend to all. Mary took care of her husband at home, and also cared for her father-in-law and brother-in-law. She was a warm, wonderful woman who loved her family.

Survivors include her children, Patricia McFall, John Magee and his wife Dorothy Patrick, Diane VanSlyke and her husband Jerry; her grandchildren, Karen Stureski and her husband Michael, Diane Halbert and her husband Neil, Kathy Bickford and her husband Wayne, Janet Langlitz and her husband Brian, David VanSlyke and his wife Wendy, Brian VanSlyke and his partner Jeff Prevost, Sean Magee and his wife Alicia, Jennifer Orozco and her husband Juan; her great grandchildren, Nikki Halbert, Brian Halbert, Kaitlyn Magee, Melanie Magee, Seth Magee, Andrew Orozco, John Orozco, Rachel Langlitz, Kimberly Langlitz, Ryan VanSlyke, Ashley VanSlyke, Anneke VanSlyke, Brady Stureski, Carly Stureski, Wesley Stureski, Mikayla Bickford, Joshua Bickford and Bethany Bickford. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also predeceased by her great granddaughter, Ava Marie Stureski; her sons in law, Dave Vandwater and Thomas "Al" McFall; and her siblings, John, Rody and Mildred Tighe.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 11:30am-1:30pm at McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main St. Fishkill. The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, American Cancer Society or SIDS – in memory of Ava Marie.
