Mary J. Mercorella, a Fishkill resident since 2009 and formerly of Yonkers, died on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Sharon Hospital in Connecticut. She was 85.
Born in Yonkers on March 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Marie DelGiappone Totoro. On April 25, 1948, she married Anthony Mercorella at St. Joseph's Church in Yonkers. She was predeceased by her husband in 1983.
Mary worked for many years in the electronics field. Her hobbies included bowling and bocce ball. She was an avid New York Yankees fan as well.
Survivors include her son, Joseph Mercorella & his wife Christina of Wappingers Falls; her daughter, Jean Mercorella of Fishkill; her grandchildren, Michael Mercorella of Hyde Park and Stacie Mooradian & her husband John of Marlboro; her step-grandchildren, Jaimie Stone of Massachusetts and Courtney Stone of Beekman; her great-grandchildren, Dakota, Samantha, John Anthony and Christopher; her brother, Nicholas Totoro of Mahopac; and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was also predeceased by her siblings, Dominic Totoro, Michael Totoro, and Philomena Portnoy.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 10 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson.
