Mary M. Murray, 86, a resident of Poughquag for 13 years and formerly of Westchester County, passed on to a better place on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with her loving family at her side.
Born in the Bronx on May 26, 1926, Mary was the daughter of the late Terrence and Lillian Reynolds Rice. She was a parishioner of St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction and enjoyed cooking, reading, crocheting and sewing, often making dresses for her daughters and granddaughters. She was a former Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader. While living in Westchester she earned a degree from Westchester Community College. She was offered numerous scholarships. After her husband retired, they enjoyed traveling extensively in Europe and the Near East.
On July 30, 1949 in the Bronx, Mary married Thomas Murray who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Tom Murray and his wife Kate of Portland, OR, Marianne Cross of Boise, ID, Andrea Morehouse and her husband Bob of Clifton Park and Janet Enright and her husband Pat of Cedarburg, WI; and her grandchildren, Carrie and Michael Murray, Kyle Cross, Kathryne, Elizabeth and Laura Morehouse, Lauren and Liam Enright.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction. Interment will be on Monday at 1pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
