MARY BETH SCHMIDT (1955-2021)

Mary Beth Schmidt of Hopewell Junction, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. A devout woman of faith, one of her proudest achievements was adding to her Bachelors degree from Pace University with a Master of Arts from the Holy Apostles College and Seminary. She lived as a faithful servant of God and was the Senior Staff Chaplain at White Plains Hospital, where she cared for countless patients and their families for the past 14 years. Mary Beth was also an esteemed member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.

She was a proud mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren, kayaking, vacationing by the shore and living life with a true sense of brightness. The daughter of the late Charles and Eileen Johnsmeyer, she is survived by her husband George Schmidt, her sons Brian (Krista) Schmidt of Hartsdale, NY, Matthew (Kristin) Schmidt of Hopewell Junction, NY, Andrew (Christa Chu) Schmidt of Harwinton, CT, and Patrick (Vanessa Golembewski) Schmidt of Bronxville, NY. She is also survived by her brothers Charles and Peter Johnsmeyer, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved grandchildren Wyatt and Abendschein Schmidt.

A wake will be held on Tuesday, March 9 from 6-8 p.m. at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A funeral mass, followed by a burial, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10 at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.
