FISHKILL – Mary Catharine Spuhler, 90, a resident of Fishkill since 1999, died on December 2, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in West Palm Beach, FL, Gouldsboro, PA, and Farmingdale, NY.
Born on December 1, 1930 in Bellmore, Mary was the daughter of the later John and Mary (McQuade) Hannon. On May 8, 1954 at St. Kilian Church in Farmingdale, Mary married Frederick Charles Spuhler who predeceased her in 2015 after 61 years of marriage.
Mary retired as a librarian in 1984 from St. Kilian School in Farmingdale where she worked for over 16 years.
She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Rick and Beverly Spuhler of Oswego, Gregory and Carey Spuhler of Baldwin, Philip and Judy Spuhler of Macomb, MI, and Daniel and Laurel Spuhler of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, John and Maggie Spuhler, Mary and Brad McConkey, Eric Spuhler, Elena and Christopher Carbone, Genevieve Spuhler, Brittany Spuhler, Karl Spuhler, and Rose Spuhler; her great-grandchildren, Jack, Owen, Natalie, Trey, Connor, and Reid; and her brother, John Hannon and his wife Deborah.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, May 6 at 11:30 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, Fishkill. Calling hours will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 6 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A private inurnment will take place at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. PLEASE NOTE: In compliance with NYS guidelines, social distancing and face masks will be required and capacity may be limited. All attendees should be prepared for potential extended waiting periods.
