Mary C. Van Vort, 80, a resident of Hopewell Junction for 15 years and formerly of Yorktown Heights, died at Danbury Hospital on Thursday, January 28, 2010.
Born in the Bronx on July 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary Ennis Laverty.  She was employed as a claims processor for Prudential Insurance in Yorktown Heights for 15 years until her retirement in 1991.  Mary was a parishioner of St. Columba Church in Hopewell Junction.

On January 29, 1955 at St. Simon Stock Church in the Bronx, Mary married Eugene C. Van Vort who predeceased her on September 15, 1966.  She is survived by her children, Jeanmarie Potvin and her husband Guy of Hopewell Junction, Marianne Ging and her husband John of Hopewell Junction and Eugene D. Van Vort and his wife Debbie of Franklin, MA; her sister, Eileen Laverty of Brighton Beach;  and her grandchildren, Guy and Jereme Potvin, John and Kacie Ging, Paige, Jordan and Brett Van Vort.

Calling hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla.
