Obituary

Maureen Frances Cosentino, a resident of Jackson Heights, NY for most of her life, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026 at Waterview Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare. She was 83.

Maureen was born on August 26, 1942 in Elmhurst, NY to the late Michael and Grace (Daly) Furey. On June 26, 1971, at St. Joan of Arc in Jackson Heights, she married her loving husband Vincent Cosentino. They spent many happy years together until his death in 2015.

Prior to meeting, and falling in love with, Vincent, Maureen was Sister Michael Marie, in the Gray Franciscan Order of Nuns; her faith was very important to her. Later, she spent many years as a Eucharistic Minister and member of the book club at St. Joan of Arc, as well as PTO Member of St. Joan of Arc School.

Maureen loved being a wife and mother and took great joy in raising her children. She loved to clean, shop, was a master gift wrapper, and loved her holidays, especially Christmas. She once had a Christmas tree featured in Lenox magazine as she was an avid collector of their ornaments. She also loved wolves and had many wolf statues around her home.

In later years, she cherished being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She loved listening to oldies music including the Beatles, and Phil Collins.

Maureen is survived by her children: Graceann Cosentino of Jackson Heights, NY, Michele Labruzzo and her husband Gino of Armonk, NY, Andrew Cosentino and his wife Terese of Wappingers Falls, and John-Paul Cosentino and his wife Michele of East Haven, CT; her grandchildren: Nicoletta, Alexa, Dylan, Lia, Luca and Ali; her brother Joseph Furey and his wife Alix of Naples, FL, and her sister-in-law Alexandria Romano and her husband Alfred of Huntington, NY.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
