Maureen Laycock O'Neill, 74, a resident of New York since 1969 and formerly of England, died on Friday, June 7, 2013 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center following a long illness.
Born in Huyton, Liverpool, England on June 26, 1938, she was the daughter of William and Jane Keating Laycock. Maureen was employed by IBM, East Fishkill until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. If her life were to be summed up in three words, they would be caring, giving and loyal.
On July 26, 1958, Maureen married John O'Neill who survives at home. She is also survived by her children, Bernadette O'Neill of England, Sharon Haggerty and husband Thomas of Medfield, MA, Christina Gorey and husband Dean of Wappingers Falls, and Shaun O'Neill of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Shaun O'Neill of Hopewell Junction, Robert O'Neill of England, Jason O'Neill of England, Erin Haggerty of Medfield, MA, Ryan O'Neill of England, T. Michael Haggerty, Jr. of Medfield, MA, Timothy Haggerty of Medfield, MA and Morgan Gorey of Wappingers Falls; her great-granddaughter, Jessica O'Neill of England; and her siblings, James Laycock, Brenda Lloyd and Eileen Beech of England. She was predeceased by her brothers, Paul and Robert Laycock.
The family would like to thank their friends, as well as the doctors and amazing nurses at the Dyson Center for their love and support.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., Hopewell Junction.
