Mauro (Murry) Palomba
Mauro R. Palomba, 93, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1973 and previously of the Bronx and East Harlem, died on January 26, 2021 at home.
Born on September 24, 1927 in East Harlem, Mauro was the son of Mauro and Margaret (Franciosa) Palomba. On April 29, 1961 in the Bronx, Mauro married Elaine Imbembo.
Mauro proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a radio operator trained in Morse Code and stationed in Germany. He was deployed out of Fort Dix, NJ, Troop C, 2nd Constabulary Squadron. Mauro was an extremely proud veteran. He wore his WWII hat every time he went out and loved when people thanked him for his service. He also used the VA hospital system for all his medical needs and proudly said they had the best doctors in the world! Mauro worked as a Film Supervisor for TVC Laboratories in NYC for 25 years until his retirement in 1990. TVC developed and printed 16mm and 35mm motion pictures for Hollywood and the TV commercial industry. Mauro was a parishioner of St. Columba Church.
Mauro is survived by his children, Mauro and his wife Kathy of Hopewell Junction, Nicholas and his wife Christi of LaGrange and Lois and her husband Gino DiCapua of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Amanda, Mauro, Nicholas, Julianna, Daniella and Steven; his sister Grace Elicona and her husband Daniel; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will follow at 12pm with interment at St. Denis Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to East Fishkill Rescue Squad or Castle Point Veteran's Hospital.
