Melvin W. Gardner, III passed away on March 26, 2024, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center at the age of 69. He was born on March 29, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, NY to the late Melvin W. Gardner Jr. and Eunice (Duclos) Gardner. On October 20, 1990, he married his beloved wife Adela (Hoenig) Gardner in Hopewell Junction.

For many years, Mel worked as a plumber for Gardner Plumbing and Heating in Hopewell Junction. In his free time, he loved to go hunting and fishing. He was a longtime member of the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club. He adored his wife, Adela, and was a devoted family man. Mel was a good friend to all and would always be there for anyone who needed him. His family describes him as dependable, a peacemaker, and a gentle soul, who never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was truly "one of the good ones" and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mel is survived by his loving wife, Adela Gardner, of Hopewell Junction, NY; his children: Michael Gardner and his wife, Heather, of Greene, NY; Steven Conklin and his wife, Maria, of Georgia; Lauren Turner and her husband, Kevin, of Hopewell Junction, NY; and Michael Conklin of Florida; his grandchildren: Meah Turner, Joshua Conklin, Karly Turner, Mason Gardner, Ethan Gardner, and Reagan Conklin; his siblings: Alan Gardner and his wife, Darlene, and Donna Breault and her husband, John; as well as several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

Mel's parents Melvin W. Gardner, Jr,. and Eunice Gardner, as well as his stepdad, Raymond Ward, predeceased him.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday April 3, 2024, from 4-8 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 7:30 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
