Obituary

Michael Boyle passed away peacefully and in the company of his family on March 4th, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence in Newburgh, NY, after a short but mighty battle with cancer. He was 66 years old.

The son of William Boyle and June Brubaker Waller, Michael was born in Suffern and raised in Highland Mills, NY. He lived most of his adult life in Goshen, NY.

A highly respected musician, Michael co-founded and led the 4-piece swing band Swing Vipers which performed at celebrity parties, private events, and music venues throughout New York state. His commitment to excellence in his guitar playing, singing and songwriting was a constant inspiration to his fellow musicians, one that challenged them to up their game and reach for greater levels of creative and technical mastery. While Michael took his craft seriously, he was quick to laugh and joke around with his bandmates, trading friendly barbs and jibes during both rehearsals and performances.

His quick, dry wit and sarcastic sense of humor was both the bane and delight of his co-workers at Exhibit & Tradeshow Consultants in Middletown, NY. Starting as a bench craftsman and eventually becoming Sr. CAD Graphics Designer, Michael worked for this company for over 40 years. His co-workers were like a second family, one that loved, supported, and made endless fun of each other.

He was also a highly skilled woodworker who specialized in colonial style furniture. If you needed a table, letter desk, credenza or chest of drawers, Michael would design and build it for you. Many of his family members and friends are the proud owners of Michael's original pieces.

Of all the loves of Michael's life, his greatest and deepest was his love for his children, Allison and Jason, and his grandchildren, Mae and William. They were his pride and joy, and when he would talk about them, he did so in a state of awe, as if he couldn't believe how blessed he was to be related to such amazing human beings.

If you were lucky enough to be Michael's friend, you knew you could always rely on him when you needed someone to listen, give advice, or help you work things out. He was always available to help and support those he loved in any way he could. Whether it was showing up to fix something or assist in a project that was important to you, he was generous with his time, expertise, and, yes, his wicked sense of humor.

Michael is survived by his daughter Allison and her husband Kevin Olheiser; his son Jason & his wife Leah (Spinrad); his grandchildren Mae & William Spinrad-Boyle; and his best friend Nancy Tierney.

Aside from his parents, William Boyle & June Brubaker Waller, Michael was predeceased by his brother Kevin Boyle.
