COLD SPRING - Michael Corcoran, 89, died on October 28, 2016 at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care. He previously lived in Astoria, Queens.
Born in Waterford, Ireland on November 8, 1926, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Roberts) Corcoran. On September 11, 1955, Michael married Marion (Whalen) Corcoran who predeceased him in August 2009.
Michael was a Life Member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, having completed 50 years of service. He originally worked for Local 2163 on the west side of Manhattan before transferring to Local 279 in Beacon. He was proud to help many others get their start in the union, and was always there to give a hand.
Michael is survived by his children, Mary Pat Corcoran of Beacon, James M. Corcoran and his wife Michele of Hopewell Junction, Thomas Corcoran of Greenwich, CT, and Theresa Corcoran of Cold Spring; his granddaughters, Amanda Corcoran of Scarborough and Kathleen Corcoran of Austin, TX; his brother, Thomas Corcoran of Waterford, Ireland; his nieces, Eleanor and Rosemary of Waterford, Ireland; and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Michael loved and cherished his granddaughters and nieces, who he loved with all his heart.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was predeceased by 4 sisters and 5 brothers, all of Waterford, Ireland.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill.
