Michael Hargraves, 61, of Poughkeepsie, NY, went home to be with the Lord on May 21, 2026. Born on May 18, 1965, in Yonkers, NY, Michael lived a life marked by faith, servitude, strength, and deep devotion to those he loved most. Most importantly, he devoted his life to declaring the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He embodied Philippians 1:20, which reads, "according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death."

Michael was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara, and a proud father to his son, Michael John and his wife Sarah, and his daughter, Katie and her husband, Tyler. He treasured his role as "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren Rosie, Hannah, Vivienne, Johnny, and Luke.

Michael was predeceased by his parents, Florence "Honey" Hargraves, Richard Hargraves, his twin sister MaryKay, and his sister Debbie. He is survived by his siblings: Bobby and Liz, Joan and John, Jamie and Kathy, Richie and Colleen, and Rie; along with his beloved nieces and nephews, Ashley, Adam, Reese, Lydia, Piper, Christina, Cameron, Novalee, Noah, Naomi, Grace, Shane, Cari, Jake, Dylan, Richie, Ashley, Ellie, Hudson Sarah, JJ, J'Niyah, Jonah, Liam, Emma, and Bram. Michael also survived by his loving in-laws upstate, Dan and Jodi, Michael and Cathy, Jamie, and nephews Joshua, Joel, and Aaron. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends who felt like family, and members of the Calvary Chapel community whose lives were touched by his kindness and encouragement.

Michael dedicated many years of his life serving as a Corrections Officer in Westchester County before retiring. Beyond his career, he faithfully served as a pastor, pouring into the lives of others with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering faith.

He enjoyed spending time at Cayuga Lake, hunting, fishing, and practicing jiu-jitsu. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Whether sharing stories with loved ones around a campfire, working a grill, or laughing with his grandchildren, Michael lived fully and loved deeply.

More than anything, Michael will be remembered for his steadfast faith, his servant's heart, and the love he had for his family. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he impacted and the family he cherished so dearly.

Calling hours will be held on May 27th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Calvary Chapel of the Hudson Valley, located at 36 Firemens Way, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A memorial service will immediately follow.
