Michael W. Harrington, 71, a longtime resident of Dutchess County and formerly of New York City, died on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Putnam Hospital Center.
Born in Pasadena, California on January 5, 1942, he was the son of the late Thomas and Irene (Drexler) Harrington. Prior to retiring as Vice President at Bank of America in San Francisco, he had previously worked for American Express, Banker's Trust and Citibank. He enjoyed telling the story of working as a teller for Citibank at the 1964-1965 World's Fair in New York City. Mike had a lifelong love of real estate and home renovation; and after retiring from banking, he became a real estate broker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne (Gondrez) Harrington at home; his children, Michael W. Harrington, Jr. of Stormville, Todd Harrington and his wife Victoria of Hopewell Junction, and Dawn Harrington of Rhinebeck, as well as his granddaughters, Emma Harrington, Enya Cupano, and Autumn Cupano, who meant the world to him.
In his free time, Mike enjoyed playing cards, chess, gardening and nature. He was happiest when spending time with his three granddaughters. Together they loved telling stories, creating artwork and inventions, and most of all, baking and cooking in Pop-op and Abuela's kitchen. Mike will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
