Michael J. Hopkins, Jr., a Beacon resident since 2006 and formerly of Jamaica, Queens, died suddenly on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh.
Son of the late Michael and Ann (Noonan) Hopkins, he was born in Brooklyn on June 10, 1950. He graduated from Chelsea Vocational High School in Manhattan. He spent his entire career working in the finance industry for J.P. Morgan and its subsidiary companies.
On June 9, 1973, he married Patricia Kelly at Immaculate Conception Monastery Church in Queens. Mrs. Hopkins survives at home.
Additional survivors include his daughter, Colleen Hopkins & her partner Chris Murphy; his son, Michael J. Hopkins, III & his wife Jenelle; his granddaughters, Alanna and Kayleigh; his sister, Maureen A. Keyes & her husband Denis; and his brother, Brian J. Hopkins & his wife Lorraine. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to his parents, Michael was also predeceased by his sister, Regina Hopkins, in 2014.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.
