Michael Cabrera, Jr., 48, a lifelong area resident, died on November 26, 2017 at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.

Born in Beacon on February 26, 1969, he was the son of Michael Cabrera Sr. and Minerva Morales Cabrera of Beacon. Michael was a dedicated volunteer with the Chelsea Fire Company where he served on the Board of Trustees. He was also a volunteer with the Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Michael devoted his life to his family and helping others.

On October 16, 2015 at Anthony’s Pier 9, Michael married Rebecca Heady who survives at home. In addition to his parents and his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Lousecita Cabrera, Margarita Cabrera, and Raul Cabrera; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Esther Lazenka; and his niece, Victoria Rivera.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill with the with the firematic service beginning at 7pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday at the funeral home at 10am followed by interment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
