Michael Anthony Mastrolia

COLD SPRING - Michael Anthony Mastrolia, 78, passed away peacefully after a short, courageous battle with cancer on Friday, August 21, 2026 at the Village of Heroes, Castle Point, NY. Michael resided in Cold Spring, NY with his beloved wife of eleven years, Marynorma Fazzari Sakala Colbert Mastrolia.

Michael was born October 30, 1947 in a military hospital in San Francisco, CA to Lt. Colonel Anthony C. and Ann (D'Aloisio) Mastrolia. Due to his Active Military parents, Michael and his siblings lived in San Francisco, Boston, Falls Church, VA, Columbus, GA, San Antonio, TX, Izmir, Turkey, and Norristown, PA. He graduated in 1965 from Bishop Kennick High School, where he pitched for the varsity baseball team.

He served in Vietnam from 1967-1970. He had a lifelong fascination with helicopters, airplanes and flying, which led to his career as a LearJet Mechanic & Inspector at various airports. He retired from Atlantic-Aero Airport, NC. His passion for flying also included skydiving (which he also instructed), building model helicopters and airplanes. His personal mantra was "I'd rather be flying." And as if that did not keep him busy enough, he enjoyed bowling, travelling, picnicking at local National Parks and was a camera buff.

Michael was always active in his church parishes including Holy Cross in Kernersville, NC where he was an usher and did a lot of volunteer work and Our Lady of Loretto in Cold Spring, NY. He was a 4th Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, of Holy Cross Council 8509 in Kernersville, NC and of Our Lady of Loretto Council 536. He was the Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day Parade in Cold Spring, NY. Additionally, he belonged to VFW Post 2362 and American Legion Post 0275.

He was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching the Phillies and Eagles games whenever he had the chance. He absolutely loved dogs, especially Tobi who was his beloved fur baby for many years. Tobi died earlier this year. More than anything, Michael loved his family and spending time with them.

He and Marynorma met and knew each other in High School and reconnected many years later at a class reunion. They were married in 2015.

In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his daughter, Claudia Clark and her husband, Steve of Fredericksburg, PA, and his grandson, Seth Clark; his step-daughters, Monique Sakala of Cold Spring, NY, Marcie Ricapito and her husband, Thomas of Putnam Valley, NY, and Marcella Stanzione and her husband Anthony of Athens, NY; his step-grandchildren, Vincent, Alexander and Jackson Ricapito and Emma and Owen Stanzione; and his nephew, Chrostopher Mastrolia of Gilbertsville, PA.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother William Mastrolia, his sister Barbara Mastrolia, his first wife, Beverly Hersay and his second wife, Patricia Queen.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 10 am - 11 am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 601 Buttonwood Street, Norristown, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 am followed by burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Road, Annville, PA.
