Obituary

Michael C. Schultz, a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, died at home surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, May 4, 2012 after a courageous three-year battle with stomach cancer. He was 57.
Born in West Point on September 19, 1954, he was the son of John and Grace Morgese Schultz. For many years up until his death, Michael served as a Project Manager for Columbia University in Manhattan, and had previously worked as a self-employed contractor.
He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was an avid hunter. He always loved family vacations and was especially fond of the beach.
On September 12, 1981 he married Sherrie Mortensen at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. She survives at home.
Michael is also survived by his daughter, Jennifer Angot & her husband Andre of Hyde Park; his son, Christopher Schultz of Fishkill; his granddaughter, Mackenzie Angot; his parents, John & Grace Schultz of New Windsor; his brother, John Schultz & his wife Nancy of Chester; his sister, Melissa Mangelli & her husband Louis of Newburgh; his mother-in-law, Maria Mortensen of Hopewell Junction; his father-in-law, William Mortensen of Port St. Lucie, FL; his sisters-in-law, Lisa Coddington of Kerhonkson and Tanya Mortensen of Hopewell Junction; his brother-in-law, Doug Mortensen & his wife Anne Rose of Fishkill; and also many nieces, nephews and many other loving family members & friends.
Michael cherished the moments he spent with his family, and had very special relationships with his children, son-in-law and granddaughter. He always had a special bond with his yellow labs, and his last dog, Jake, was put to rest in March.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Michael's memory are made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; www.stjude.org.
