POUGHKEEPSIE – Michael James Rhodes, Sr., 70, a lifelong area resident, died peacefully at home on May 30, 2022 surrounded by his family. Born in Poughkeepsie on November 21, 1951, Mike was the son of the late Archie and Beulah Rhodes. He proudly served in the National Guard. He attended Morse School and graduated from Poughkeepsie High School. Mike was employed by Total Bus Company in Wappingers Falls.

Mike enjoyed playing pool, hunting, and fishing, He especially liked watching football and baseball games with family and friends. He was one of a kind….a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was loved by everyone. Mike will be remembered as a sweet man who never had a bad word to say about anyone.

In 1978 at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, Mike married Nancy Ann (Watkins) Rhodes who survives at home. He is also survived by his children, Michael Rhodes, Jr. of Poughkeepsie and Ashley Rhodes of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Geona, Nazir, Iyana, Sean, Anthony, Jazzlynn, Breona, Michael III, Matthews, Tayler, Olivia, and Skyler; his sister Brenda and her husband Popo Otero; his brother Johnny Rhodes; his best friend, Ronnie Rotella and his wife Linda; the extended Watkins family; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mike was also predeceased by his siblings, Ruth Rhodes, Raymond Rhodes, Frank Rhodes and wife Paula Oliver; his father-in-law, Richard Watkins; his mother-in-law, Marie Watkins; and his sister-in-law, Jayme Watkins.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 7pm at the Poughkeepsie Reformed Church, 70 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
