Obituary

Michael B. "Bernie" Wysocki, 87, a lifelong area resident, died on June 29, 2016 at MidHudson Regional Hospital.

Born in Poughkeepsie on February 24, 1929, he was the son of Josef and Julia Rafalski Wysocki. Michael was a 1947 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and proudly served our county in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He graduated with his teaching certification from SUNY Oneonta and was employed as a vocational instructor for the New York State Department of Corrections at Green Haven Correctional Facility for 22 years until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement, he worked as a building custodian for the Beekman Fire District and Green Haven QWL.

Michael was a parishioner of St. Denis Church. An avid golfer and bowler, he played with the Poughkeepsie and Fishkill Men's Softball League until he was 80. He was the past president and founding member of the Beekman Lions Club; groundskeeper and member of the Board of Directors with the Beekman Recreation Association; member of the Beekman Athletic Council where he volunteered as a Little League Coach; and past member of the Poughquag Sportsmen's Association.

On June 14, 1953 at Nativity Church in Poughkeepsie, Michael married Katherine Takacs who predeceased him on September 28, 2005. He is survived by his children, Karen-Ann Wysocki of Beekman, Kristin Trombley of Plattsburgh (formerly Malone), and David Wysocki of Poughquag; his daughter-in-law, Dawn Wysocki ; his grandchildren, Daniel and his fiancé Janeane, Ryan and Meagan; his sister-in-law, June Takacs; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his son-in-law, Stephen Trombley; his siblings, John and Joseph Wysocki, Stella Prince and Elizabeth Straley; his nephews, Clarence Prince, Robert Prince and Michael Takacs; and his great nephew, Gary Prince.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday at 10am at St. Denis Church, 602 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction.
