Michelina Donofrio, 84, a resident of Stormville for 5 years and formerly of Garden City and the Bronx, died on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Putnam Hospital Center.
Born in Hoboken, NJ on June 7, 1927, she was the daughter of Carmelo and Concetta Ferrauto Giordano. Michelina was employed as a bookkeeper for Belldock Industries in West Hempstead for 10 years until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Columbiettes at St. Raymond’s in the Bronx.
On November 21, 1951, Michelina married Matthew Visconti who predeceased her on June 16, 1973. She then married Anthony “Sonny Don” Donofrio on July 30, 1978 and he predeceased her on March 23, 2000. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Matthew and Mary Visconti of the Bronx and Joseph and Dorothy Visconti of Stormville; her stepchildren and their spouses, Amy and William Makar of Hempstead, Thomas and Mary Donofrio of Medford, Eugene and Szette Donofrio of Palm Beach Garden, FL; her sister, Betty Lanotte of Brewster; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Carmine Visconti, on June 9, 1959; and her brothers, Salvatore and Dino Giordano.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11am at St. Theresa of the Infant Jesus Church, 2855 Theresa Avenue, Bronx followed by interment in St. Raymond’s Cemetery.
