HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Minnie A. Lown, 90, an area resident since 1945 and formerly of Stanfordville, died peacefully at her home on April 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving children.
Born in Sharon, CT on September 7, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Noreen (Bullis) Knickerbocker. Minnie enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, reading, listening to music, bird watching and history. She was an avid sports fan, often watching both baseball and tennis.
Minnie loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was lovingly called "Gram" by just about everyone who knew her.
On May 20, 1951 at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction, Minnie married the love of her life, Edwin N. Lown, Sr., who predeceased her on February 1, 2013. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lisa and Rick Mekeel of Hopewell Junction, Ed Jr. and Jeanette Lown of Hopewell Junction, John and Renee Lown of Dove Canyon, CA; her grandchildren, Edwin III and Jennifer Lown, Kelly and Trevor French, Sarah Lown, Katie and Nathan Jackson, Hailey Lown and Trevor Lown; her great-grandchildren, Edwin Lown IV, Gregory Lown, Kaylee Lown, Grace French, Rebecca French and Elyse Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Knickerbocker, Jr.
Calling hours will be held at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction on Saturday, August 17th from 3 - 5 pm with a funeral service at 5pm.
