POUGHKEEPSIE – Miriam Martinez-Porter, 68, a local resident for over 26 years, died on January 16, 2023 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She previously lived in Peekskill.

Born on August 26, 1954 in New York City, Miriam was the daughter of the late Luis and Aurielia Martinez. She worked as a pharmacist assistant at Baxter's Pharmacy in Peekskill for over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, Carmen Martinez, Daniel Porter, Anita Garcia, Michael "Smurf" Porter, and D'Asia Martinez-Porter; her stepchildren, Richard Porter and Renita Porter; her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Miriam was also predeceased by her husband, Richard A. Porter in 2015.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 am at the funeral home followed by burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
