Mitsuo Hirai departed this earth on Friday morning, July 4, 2014, at the White Plains Center for Nursing Care where he had resided since March 12 of this year from complications resulting from End Stage Dementia. Funeral plans are incomplete.

Mitsuo was the son of Yukiyo (Nagano) Hirai and Tokio Hirai. He leaves behind a son, Kazuhito Hirai, and a sister, Takako Inoue, both residing in the Tokyo area and a brother, Yoshitaka Hirai, residing in Kanagawa. He worked for IBM Japan from November, 1960 until July of 1999 when he began working for IBM US. Mitsuo retired in February 2009 as a Senior Marketing Intelligence Specialist after serving the IBM Corporation for 48+ years, traveling extensively for them throughout the world.

Mitsuo will be remembered for his quiet easy going personality, a good sense of humor, his generosity and as a hard working employee. He spent a good portion of the latter part of his working years fostering relationships between the Japanese and US business communities. Mitsuo had recently been studying Economics and was working on completing an advanced degree in Political Science lat Keio University in Tokyo.
