COMMACK – Muriel M. Casazza, 98, a resident of Commack since 2016 and formerly of LaGrangeville, Whiting, NJ, Floral Park, and Brooklyn, died on December 9, 2020 at the Visiting Nurse Service of Suffolk Hospice House.
Born in Brooklyn on January 29, 1922, she was the daughter of William H. Eaton Jr. and Augusta Wolf. Muriel attended public schools in Brooklyn and graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in 1940. Muriel had been employed as the Policy Department Manager for US Life in Floral Park for 12 years until her retirement in 1980. Before having her children, she worked as a typist at the American Kennel Club in Manhattan.
Muriel enjoyed attending the Senior Center when she lived in LaGrangeville. She enjoyed doing crafts, playing cards and going on trips with friends. She enjoyed these same activities when she lived in New Jersey.
On October 31, 1942 in Brooklyn, Muriel married Vincent J. Casazza who predeceased her on March 6, 1997. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Smizer of Lincoln Park, NJ and Nancy Lieber and husband John of Commack; daughter-in-law, Judith Casazza of The Village, FL; grandchildren, James Casazza of Long Island, Brian and Lisa Casazza of Tampa, FL, Christina and Christopher Tetreault of Enfield, CT, Matthew Casazza of CT, Amy Seise of Lincoln Park, NJ, Kathryn Smizer of Lincoln Park, NJ, Robert Lieber of Nutley, NJ, and Andrew Lieber of Commack; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and their children. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Martha Flisser in 1999; and her son, James V. Casazza in 2015.
Muriel will be laid to rest with her husband on Monday at St. Denis Cemetery in Hopewell Junction. A celebration of her life will be held in the future. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc.
