Myra M. Martorano, 71, of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Carmel, died on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the Putnam Hospital Center.
Born in New York City on June 22, 1940, she was the daughter of Arthur Kroner Sr. and Mildred Barlow. She was a school bus driver for the Carmel Central School District for 28 years until her retirement in 2002 and had also served as the Union President for the bus drivers. Myra was a parishioner of St. James the Apostle Church in Carmel and a member of the Putnam County Senior Citizens.
On February 24, 1962 at Blessed Sacrament Church in the Bronx, Myra married Michael Martorano, Sr. who survives at home. She is also survived by her children and their spouses, Eileen and Charles True of Wappingers Falls and Michael and Lori Martorano Jr. of Altamont Springs, FL; her grandchildren Michael III, Victoria and Kyra; her great-grandchild, Jade Martorano Hogan; her sister, Mary Ann Helf of Mahopac; and her brother, Arthur Kroner Jr. of Hopewell Jct. She was predeceased by her sons, Matthew and Mark Martorano; her father and his wife Mary; and her mother and her husband Joseph Soncarato.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday and Monday from 4-8pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10am at St. James the Apostle Church, Carmel. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Raymond Hill Cemetery.
