HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Nancy A. Hrouda, a 40-year resident of Hopewell Junction, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Friday, February 10, 2017. She was 72.
Daughter of the late Maurice and Catherine (Brown) Harder, she was born in Delhi, NY on July 22, 1944.
Nancy devoted her entire career to health care. As an L.P.N., she worked at Cortlandt Healthcare for almost 40 years, retiring in 2008.
Affectionately known by family & friends as “Nanny”, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
On May 20, 1967, she married Joseph F. Hrouda in Peekskill. Mr. Hrouda survives at home.
Nanny is also survived by her son, Mark F. Hrouda & his wife Sandra of Wappingers Falls; her granddaughters, Hailey M., Raegan A, and Sierra K. Hrouda, all of Wappingers Falls; her brother, Adelbert Alan Harder & his wife Cindy of DeLancey, NY; her sister-in-law, Joanne Harder of Walton, NY; her son’s two best friends, whom she considered part of her family, Ralph Bertoldi and Kenneth Coletti; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loving relatives & friends.
In addition to her parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Harder and Clyde Harder.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 16th at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 17th at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 18th at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill.
