Nancy A. Powell, a resident of Mount Pleasant, SC and formerly of Fishkill, NY, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She was 92.
Daughter of the late John and Catherine (Morris) Mara, she was born in Beacon, NY on November 7, 1930. Nancy worked for the Texaco Research Center in Glenham, NY for more than 30 years. She enjoyed several hobbies, most especially gardening.
On November 11, 1951, she married George G. Powell in Beacon, NY. Nancy was predeceased by her husband on July 20, 2012.
Survivors include her son, George Jon Powell & his wife Tara; her granddaughter, Kathleen Cooper & her husband Gage; her grandson, Jon William Powell; two very precious great-grandchildren; as well as her nieces, Diane Emmett and Donna Kellerman & her husband Paul; and nephews, David Ninne and Michael Ninnie.
In addition to her husband and parents, Nancy was also preceded in death by her siblings, Kathleen Petrus and John Mara; as well as her nephews Dale Petrus, Jeffrey Ninnie, and Thomas Ninnie.
Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 26 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill, NY. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, 801 Route 9, Fishkill, NY.
