Nelson A. Gonzalez, 74, a resident of Wappingers Falls for 35 years and formerly of the Bronx, died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on April 15, 1940, he was the son of the late Fidel Gonzalez and Sofia Wolmart. Nelson was employed by Metro North for 36 years until his retirement in 2005.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Aurea Sanchez; his children and their spouses, James and Debbie Galarza, Daniel and Dawn Gonzalez, Gregory Gonzalez, Nelson Gonzalez, Lisette Gonzalez and Will and Shannon Vega; his grandchildren, Austin, Jordan, Kelsey, Giovanni, Isabella, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Arianna, Miah and Caylen; his siblings, Greg Gonzalez, Raul Montaldo and Alex Gonzalez; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, William Montaldo and Anita Gonzalez.
