FISHKILL - Nicholas R. DeLuca, 94, an area resident since 1956 and formerly of Brooklyn, died peacefully on October 7, 2024 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

Born in Brooklyn on September 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine (Nasta) DeLuca. Nicholas proudly served our country in both the US Navy and the US Army, for a combined service of 24 years. He had been employed as a meat manager for a local supermarket for 43 years.

Nicholas was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. He was a member of St. Mary's Council #4065 and a Fourth-Degree member of St. John Paul #2 Assembly, Knights of Columbus. An avid hunter and fisherman, Nicholas was also a member of the Dutchess Boat Club.

On January 20, 1952 in Brooklyn, Nicholas married the love of his life, Virginia DiTore. She predeceased him on December 10, 2021 after 70 loving years of marriage. He is survived by his children, Nicholas DeLuca and his partner Lee Ann Kelly, Linda Owen and her husband Timothy, and David DeLuca and his wife Cookie; his granddaughters, Tina Owen and Michelle Ospino, his great-grandchildren, Brianna Winstel, Nicholas Lentini, John Cobb Jr., and Rosario Malanga; his sisters, Diane Brenner and Loretta Finamore; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Friday from 3-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday at 11:30am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction followed by entombment in Fishkill Rural Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
