Obituary

LAGRANGEVILLE – Nicholas John Evangelista, 77, died peacefully at home on May 27, 2021.

"In life we must accept the inevitable but, not without great sorrow." N.E.

Born on June 15, 1943, as a Father's Day blessing, he was the son of the late Nicola and Wilhelmina Evangelista. Nick was a first-generation United States citizen who started his early life in a hamlet of the Bronx in New York.

After meeting his beloved wife Carol, a school time sweetheart, together they started their life in the Bronx and eventually moved up to the Hudson Valley area to raise their family. Long time residents of "upstate", they became loved by all whom they met.

Nick served his country proudly in the US Army Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He started his career as a steel worker and once his children came, he joined the lithographic trade in New York City. He had an influential career bringing the public many of the print and photos one would see in daily life.

Nick never met a stranger. Being from a family of 10 siblings, he was loved by all whom he met. Humble, good natured, and always willing to lend a hand. He enjoyed life in his love of outdoors, camping, sporting events, and spending time with family and friends.

Nick is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his children, Nick and Nicole; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Theresa, Dante, and Doria; his daughter-in-law, Michele; his sisters, Virginia and Louise; as well as many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his siblings, Wilhelmina, Lena, Frances, Nancy, Antoinette, Mary, and Frank; and his granddaughter, Maria.

There are not enough words to express his influence and life. We all loved you.
