Nicholas Rodriguez, a resident of Dutchess County since 1993, died with his family by his side on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 78.
Son of the late Emilio Rodriguez and Maria Rivera, he was born in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico on December 16, 1935. In 1954, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he moved to the Bronx.
For more than 20 years, Nicholas worked as a press printer for H.W. Wilson Company in the Bronx. Afterward, he worked many years as a supervisor for Bell Security in White Plains. He retired in 1995.
He was a member of the American Legion and also enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, bowling, and baseball. He was an avid New York Yankees fan.
Nicholas is survived by the mother of his children, Maria Rodriguez; six children, Margarita Rodriguez of Utah, Diana Rodriguez of the Bronx, Nicholas Rodriguez, Jr. (Benny) of Long Island, Garbriel Rodriguez (Michelle) of Beacon, Robert Rodriguez (Emely) of Wappingers Falls, and Eddie Rodriguez (Melissa) of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Louis Diana, Daisy, Anthony, William, Nicholas III, Amanda, Angelica, Gabriel Jr., Joshua, and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Jax, Rebecca, Joelle, Kyle, and Kaidence; and his sister, Maria Luisa Rivera of Carolina, Puerto Rico. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives & friends.
He was predeceased his parents and beloved siblings.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 15 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. at the funeral home, immediately following calling hours. The U.S. Army will conduct Military Honors. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
