Nicholas Peter Vizzini, a local area resident for over 40 years and formerly of Brooklyn, died at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie on Friday, June 14, 2013. He was 82.
Son of the late Carmelo and Concetta Agro Vizzini, he was born in Manhattan on December 27, 1930. He was U.S. Army Veteran, and in 1995 retired from I.B.M. in East Fishkill, where he had worked for 24 years. Nicholas was also a parishioner at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. For the last ten years, he and his wife have enjoyed spending the winter season at their residence in Boca Raton, FL.
On July 7, 1977, he married Mary Lou DeSantis at St. Bernadette's Church in Brooklyn. Mrs. Vizzini survives at home.
In addition to his wife, Nicholas is also survived by his daughter, Nicole (Vizzini) Garcia & her husband Justin of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ; his grandson, Ethan Nicholas Garcia; his brother, Charles Vizzini of Brooklyn; his sister, Pauline Bordonaro of Brooklyn; and several nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives and friends. He will be missed by his admiring dog Bailey as well.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 21 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Entombment will follow in the Community Mausoleum at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
