Nicola Cacace, a 27-year resident of Fishkill, died at home on Friday, October 17, 2014. He was 71.
Son of the late Natale and Caterina (Murdolo) Cacace, he was born in Italy on February 18, 1943. At the age of 17, he emigrated with his mother to the United States, where he lived in the Bronx and later Yonkers.
Nicola was known as a hard worker, a loving and proud father, and had a heart and a smile that would light up a room. In 2012, he retired from Shop Rite in Poughkeepsie, where he worked as a produce clerk for over 15 years at various locations in Westchester and Dutchess Counties. Many will remember him for his good spirited sense of humor and infectious laugh.
On August 17, 2003, he married Marion J. Beceski at St. Denis Church in Hopewell Junction. Mrs. Cacace survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: his son Mario Cacace & his wife Angela of Lagrangeville, his son Nicholas Cacace & his fiancé Heather Palmer of Poughkeepsie, his daughter Caterina Pungello & her husband Joseph of Newburgh, and his daughter Tiffany Cacace of Walden; his grandsons: Richard Timothy Jones and Victor Nicola Pungello; and many other loving relatives & friends.
In 1991, he was predeceased by his first wife, Marie Alleva Cacace.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
