FISHKILL – Novlette (June) Allen, 75, an area resident for over 20 years, passed away at Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital on Tuesday, May 13, 2024. She previously lived in Modena and New Paltz.
Novlette (June) was born on June 19, 1948, in Manchester, Jamaica to parents Laurel and Cyrus Allen. She was one of 20 children. June attended the Mount Oliphant Secondary School and qualified as an Accountant, working at Roy Roman Company Limited and Palomino Brothers in Jamaica where she excelled before she migrated to the USA in 1988.
While living in Jamaica, June was a single parent to her 3 sons, Gary, Amein, and Kevin. As a single mother, she went above and beyond to ensure her sons had a great life in Jamaica. There were no limits to her ambitions and aspirations for success, so she made the tough decision to migrate to the United States in 1988 in pursuit of a better life. She quickly transitioned from accounting and went back to school for nursing. Through hard work and perseverance, she achieved all her goals. She worked as a Nurse until her retirement in April 2022.
June considered herself to be the matriarch of the Allen family, and as such she felt that she needed to work hard to not only take care of her sons but also her extended family both in the United States and Jamaica. Even after her sons became successful adults, she selflessly worked to take care of the family members she deemed to be less fortunate. June would look forward to working holidays and securing additional overtime at her jobs just to ensure that she had extra money to support the needs of any family member who requires it. Even after she retired, she wanted to get private cases just to support her family members in Jamaica. She was a giver up-to her last days. Her kindness to others knew no bounds sometimes to her detriment as she would give her last cent to help others. She was willing to put herself in debt just to help others. Her generosity has touched the lives of everyone she met. She had a way of making everyone feel special and loved. Do not allow her to spoil you because she affectionately will (even the dog, Ashley was spoiled). There were no limits to her love. Her infectious laughter could brighten even the darkest of days. June will be TRULY missed. May she rest in everlasting peace.
June is survived by her sons, Kevin Brown, A Brown and his wife, Jeneice, and Gary Johnson and his wife, Trina; her life partner, Fitzroy Johnson: her grandchildren, Deja Brown, Gary Johnson Jr, Sean Johnson, Malik Brown and Kevin Brown Jr, and great-grandchildren, Nazir Faison, Amyia Faison and Imeri Johnson; her siblings, Noel Allen, Mayrose Allen, Phyllis (Betsy) Allen, Gloria Allen, Pauline Allen and Salone Allen; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill and on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 9 - 10 am, followed by a service at 10 am at Redeemed Christian Fellowship Church of God, 100 Cannon Street, Poughkeepsie, New York.
