Nusret Kurosman, 80, of Wappingers Falls, died at home March 8, 2021, one day after his 80th birthday.
Born March 7, 1941 in Istanbul, Turkey, he was the son of Mazlum Kurosman and Leman Tari Kurosman. Nusret attended Robert College, an American high school/college in Istanbul, and came to the United States in 1967 to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Maine in Orono. After receiving his MS, Nusret worked for IBM in East Fishkill as an Electrical Engineer until his retirement in 1991. The next year he began a second career as a tax preparer for H&R Block, a profession he found very satisfying that he worked at for another 20 years.
His greatest joy was being with his family, children and grandchildren. His beloved family and dear friends treasured him for his quiet kindness. Over the years he delighted in traveling with his family around the US and in Turkey, vacationing on Martha's Vineyard, and being involved with his son's soccer from the East Fishkill travel soccer team through high school soccer. He had a life long interest in soccer and tennis, playing both sports as a youth and watching them as an adult.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kathleen, his daughter Beldan (David) Radcliffe, of Martha's Vineyard, MA, his son Cem (Jenni) and grandchildren Ellie and Vera, of Brooklyn. He is also survived by his brother Necdet (Gulcan) Kurosman and sister Nesrin (Utku) Altug and numerous other relatives in Turkey, and his cousin Ilgu Ozler (Brian Obach) of New Paltz.
A private burial took place at Fishkill Rural Cemetery on March 10 with immediate family. Nusret's family would like to thank the wonderfully compassionate nurses and aides from Hudson Valley Hospice and ask that you consider a donation to Hudson Valley Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 in his name.
