Patrice M. Gargano
On May 10, 2014, the love of my life passed away in my arms at Vassar Brothers Medical Center after a valiant battle with mesothelioma. Patrice was 60 years young.
We lived together in the Town of LaGrange and Sunset Beach, NC. She graduated from Arlington High School and the Krissler Business Institute. After working for a local architectural firm, she found her career in the mortgage banking industry where she held many positions from underwriting to management. Patrice and I met in 1981 while working for the same mortgage company. We were married in 1983 and worked together every day in the mortgage business. We opened our own company in 1996 of which she was the President. She was a member of the National Association of Professional Mortgage Women, and was Secretary and Treasurer of the Hudson Valley Association of Professional Mortgage Women.
We enjoyed traveling together by ourselves and with friends both here and in Europe, although she did have a girls' trip to Spain every year. I can tell you our favorite travel over the last 30 years were our trips to Hilton Head Island, and most recently to Sunset Beach where we had a home that we planned to move to next year.
I want to thank the nurses, techs, case managers and staff at the Oncology Care Unit of Vassar Brothers Medical Center and the nurses, doctors and staff at Hudson Valley Hematology and Oncology. Their outstanding care and compassion for Patrice will never be forgotten.
Besides myself, she is survived by her mother Dorothy Meddaugh, and my mother Florence who lived with us. Her beautiful face and smile will always be with me and our love for each other will never die.
