Patricia "Patty" Malloy
With profound sadness, we announce that Patricia "Patty" Malloy embarked on her next journey in the early evening of September 23, 2026, at Vassar Hospital, surrounded by the comfort and love of family and close friends.
Patty was born on October 2, 1957, to John and Genevieve Malloy. She grew up in the Hudson Valley region, attended St. Mary's School, and graduated from John Jay High School with the Class of 1975.
Following graduation, Patty spent time exploring different areas of Florida, creating fun-filled memories with friends and family along the way. She eventually returned home and embarked on a successful career at IBM East Fishkill, where she took great pride in her role as a Facilities Maintenance Coordinator. Her dedication, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence earned the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Patty was a cherished mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and loved one whose kindness, warmth, and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone she met. She possessed a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Her smile could brighten the darkest day, and her compassion knew no bounds.
To her family, Patty was a constant source of love and joy. She treasured family gatherings, celebrated life's milestones with enthusiasm, and was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. The bond she shared with her siblings, extended family, and many friends was one of deep love and unwavering support.
Patty had many wonderful qualities, not to mention her natural beauty. She loved all that nature had to offer and appreciated the many creatures God placed in this world. She gave names to the deer that regularly visited her property and would happily talk back to the hooting owl that often caught her attention. Most of all, Patty had a special gift for connecting with people and maintaining those connections throughout her life. She regularly called family and friends simply to check in, often reminiscing about cherished moments from the past. Her extraordinary memory for people, names, places, and events made her the family's "keeper of stories" and the one everyone turned to when trying to remember "who's who."
Patty is survived by her devoted life partner, Mark Barry, with whom she shared a loving and committed partnership for nearly 25 years. Their bond was evident to all who knew them, and for that, her family will be forever grateful.
She leaves behind her greatest pride and joy, her sons, Michael James Byrnes and Garrett Byrnes (Melina Macfarlane); her priceless sisters, Diane Roberts (Dennis) and Judy Cahill (Mike Hartney); her stepdaughters, Meghan Lumia (Dave), Caitlin Barry (Bill Carr), Colleen Barry, and Shannon Hanlon (Andrew); and her treasured step-grandsons, Landon and Lincoln Lumia.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Chip Brownell; her nephews, Ben Brownell, Josh Roberts (Kristen), and Tim Roberts; her nieces, Christen Battaglia (Bob Kalchthaler), Sarah Roberts (John Kellogg), Lara Malloy, and Caitlin Malloy; her many grandnephews and grandnieces; and countless dear friends, both near and far.
Patty was predeceased by her parents, John and Genevieve Malloy; her brother, Michael Malloy; and her sister, Kathy Brownell.
Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we find comfort in the countless memories she leaves behind and in the love she shared throughout her life. Her legacy of kindness, resilience, compassion, and unwavering love will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at McHoul Funeral Home in Fishkill, New York, on Thursday, October 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Fishkill on Friday, October 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Stroke Association or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Patty's memory.
Perhaps the most fitting tribute we can offer is to follow Patty's example: take a moment to check in on family and friends, share a memory, offer a kind word, and never let the people you love wonder if they matter. Patty did that throughout her life, and through those acts of love and connection, her spirit will continue to shine.
