Obituary

FISHKILL - Patricia A. Morris, 88, a resident of Fishkill since 1974 and formerly of Hopewell Junction passed away on December 22, 2025.

Born in New York City, New York, she was the daughter of John and Rosa (Appleton) Kotchie who predeceased her.

On June 22, 1957, Patricia married Thomas Morris in St. Mary Gate of Heaven in Ozone Park, NY. They spent over 50 wonderful years together with family and friends. Thomas passed away in May of 2011.

Patricia held a number of positions during her working life. She was a Clerk and Assistant Underwriter for New York Underwriters; a Trouble Operator, Payroll Clerk, and Assistant Supervisor for New York Telephone Company; a Payroll Clerk for Stylco Shoes; Department Manager and Head Cashier for Kings Department Store; File Clerk for IBM and held various roles in banking, ultimately retiring as Head Teller from Wells Fargo.

Patricia enjoyed watching game shows and Hallmark Mysteries on TV to keep her mind sharp. Her pet, Mr. Cat, helped her through the years following the loss of her beloved husband.

She loved helping people everywhere she went. From her weekly money counting at St Mary's to cleaning up at family gatherings and everything in between. She never came to an event without trays of homemade brownies and cookies and crocheted numerous blankets for new babies in the family, even when her dialysis made it difficult to use her hands. She even learned how to drive an electric scooter so she could enjoy a Disney trip with her family. When Patricia set her mind on a goal, she would be persistent until that goal was met.

She loved her time spent with her family and friends. There was nothing she desired more than spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. No matter the weather, she would gather whatever garb necessary to attend and enjoy the sports events of her young athlete family members.

Patricia is survived by her son, Thomas Morris, Jr. and wife Mary of Wappingers Falls, NY, her daughter Kathleen Booth and husband Kevin of Plattekill, NY, daughter Patricia Veach and husband Arthur of Poughkeepsie, NY, sister Lorraine Barnable and husband James of Northvale, NJ, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, along with many loving nieces, nephews and godchildren.

She fought through the last week of her life, in order to be here as long as possible with her family. As was her wish, she passed peacefully with her children at her side.

Patricia was predeceased by her brother John Kotchie and his wife Joan of Wappingers Falls, NY, and sister Joan Recco and husband Salvator of Lansdale, Pa.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Vassar Brother Medical Center of Poughkeepsie, NY for their support, compassion and understanding. They would also like to thank Fresenius Kidney Care in Fishkill and Taconic at Hopewell for the care provided to Patricia during the last months of her life.
