HOPEWELL JUNCTION - Patricia M. Shultis, 81, passed peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her family on July 21, 2026. She was a lifelong area resident.
Born in Sharon, CT on January 12, 1945, Patricia was the daughter of the late Elmer and Dorothy (Schieffer) Bucey. She was employed as a personal home care provider until her retirement.
She enjoyed crafting, cooking, baking, and planning memorable gatherings for family and friends. An avid animal lover, she especially cherished the Christmas season, her favorite time of year. She also loved trips to the casino, but above all, she treasured the time she spent with her family and friends.
Patti was a proud and courageous cancer survivor who battled the disease for more than six years. She celebrated nearly two years of being cancer-free before it returned, facing every challenge with strength, resilience, and grace.
On January 3, 1992 at the Hopewell Reformed Church, Patti married Frank H. Shultis who survives at home. She is also survived by her daughter, Laura Robinson of Hopewell Junction; her granddaughter, Chelsie Robinson of Hopewell Junction; her siblings, Debbie Totels and her spouse Loren of Pheonix, AZ, Betty Mends and her spouse Jim of St. Augustine, FL, and Edward Bucey of CO; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her cats, Boo and Missy.
In addition to her parents, Patti was also predeceased by her siblings, Cheri, Diane, Emma, Ricky, and Billy. Patti recently lost her cat, Gimper, and her bird, Merlin, who she owned for over 40 years.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 26th from 2 - 6 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27th at 11am at the funeral home followed by burial at Hopewell Cemetery.
Because it was her favorite charity to support, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Patti to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
