Patrick Joseph McVeigh, 80, a Wappingers Falls resident since 1983, formerly of Yorktown Heights and Levittown, died on Friday, November 26, 2010 surrounded by his family at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
For 25 years, Patrick served as a Police Officer having worked in Nassau County and the Town of New Castle, where he reached the rank of Detective, and retired in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1951.
Born in Brooklyn on February 8, 1930, he was the son of the late Patrick and Mary Driscol McVeigh. On September 29, 1969 he married Annette Kathleen Walsh in Mt. Kisco.
Mrs. McVeigh survives at home.
Additional survivors include his son, Patrick McVeigh & his wife Jane of Fishkill; his son, Kenneth McVeigh & his wife Lisa of Fishkill; his daughter, Colleen Rogers & her husband Rick of Red Hook; his son, Michael McVeigh of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Mary Dworkin & her husband Keith of Wappingers Falls; his grandchildren, Patrick, Kristen & Brian, Travis, Erin, Kayla, Ryan, Jennifer, Kevin, Michael, Daniel, Joseph, and Hannah. Patrick is also survived by his loyal sidekick "Smudge".
He was predeceased by his parents and five brothers and sisters.
