Patrick J. O'Connell, 74, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1997 and formerly of Yorktown, died on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at his home.
Born in New York City on August 18, 1936, he was the son of James and Mary Quinn O'Connell. He served in the US Navy and was the owner and operator of PJ's Deli in Yorktown and Putnam Valley for 26 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill and he also was a sculptor.
On December 26, 1959 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Long Island City, Patrick married Mary B. McEvaddy who predeceased him on February 15, 2007.
Patrick is survived by his children, Deborah O'Keeffe of Ireland, Daniel O'Connell of Hopewell Junction, T.J. O'Connell and his wife Debra of Beacon, and Kelly Gordon and her husband, Steve of Hopewell Junction; his grandchildren, Tara, Danielle, Brendan, Dylan, Dustin and Payton O'Connell; and his great-granddaughter, Olivia Borstelmann.
There will be no calling hours. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 12 p.m. at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Arrangements are under the direction of the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction.
