Paul Vincent Montegari, 71, a resident of Dutchess County for 62 years, died in the comfort of his home on October 2, 2016.
Paul was born in Brooklyn NY on February 19, 1945, to Alfred and Evelyn King Montegari. Paul was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie, for 30+ years, and retired in 1993 as a Manager. Paul was the consummate patriot; always supportive of our troops, well versed in America's History, and generous and praiseful of Law Enforcement. An avid shooter, gun collector and gunsmith, Paul was a life member of the NRA and of the Dutchess County Pistol Association, as well as a member of the Southern Dutchess and Putnam Sportsmen's Association. Paul was also a former New York State Champion for IHMSA. He loved to ride his Harley, but equally enjoyed being in the woods on an Enduro Motorcycle in his younger years. Paul enjoyed landscape photography, hiking, and listening to "good " music. He restored classic cars, old player piano's, and was knowledgeable in home building, auto mechanics, and machining. Paul was a brilliant man, with many talents.
Paul's life revolved around his family, and he loved spending time with them. He was especially proud of his two children Angela ( a professional photographer ) and Alfred ( a Captain with the New York State Department of Corrections as well as a Police Officer for Village of Boonville. ) He is survived by his daughter Angela Ponte, and her husband Dave of Lagrangeville; his son Alfred, and his wife Leanne of Remsen; his grandchildren; William and Anthony Vittorini; Lexi and Tristan Ponte, Paul, Michael, and Vincent Montegari; his sibllings : Frank Montegari, Jeanne Marcojohn, Raymond Montegari, and Adele Palmieri and her husband Jim; his nieces and their husbands : Jeanne Kassof, Amy Montegari, Dawn and Mike Englishby, and Paula and Tim Calli; great niece Danielle; his former wife, Dolores Montegari; and his cat Fluffy.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11am at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Denis Cemetery.
