Paul Martin Schaible, a Poughkeepsie resident since 1959, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 21, 1936, in the German Village area of Columbus, Ohio, he was the beloved son of the late Paul and Margaret (Weber) Schaible. Paul married Jeannette "Sandra" Shuman on December 26, 1959, sharing a wonderful life together until her passing in 2024.

A distinguished career in the field of physics Paul contributed over 30 years to IBM in East Fishkill, New York. His remarkable innovations garnered him recognition, including several patents attributed to his work. Paul was passionate about technology and was among the first to receive the IBM PC, showcasing his commitment to advancing the field. Furthermore, he served as an expert witness in intellectual property trials and imparted his knowledge by teaching physics classes at the local community college.

In his personal life, Paul discovered a love for skiing later on and enjoyed many memorable ski trips with his sons. Alongside his wife, Paul was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, where they devoted their time to ministry work with prisoners and participated in Tres Dias religious retreats. Camping trips with family and friends brought joy during their children's formative years. Paul's passion for travel led to his early retirement from IBM, after which he pursued a leisure career as a travel agent. This vocation enabled him and Jeannette to explore the world together with friends, creating lasting memories.

Above all, Paul cherished his role as a grandfather and always made time for his granddaughter.

Paul is survived by his son, David Schaible of Ulster Park, NY and his granddaughter, Kachine Schaible, of Fort Collins, Colorado.

In addition to his wife, Paul was predeceased by his son, Mark Schaible in 2017.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 from 4pm-7pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill, NY. A Memorial Service to honor Paul's life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 11am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1400 Route 52, Fishkill NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Paul's memory to The Salvation Army or Our Savior Lutheran Church.

Paul Martin Schaible will be remembered for his intellect, kindness, and unwavering dedication to family and community. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
