Wappingers Falls- Pedro "Pete" Hernandez, a longtime area resident, passed away on March 31, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 83 years old.

Pete was born on October 27, 1940, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Ramon and Elisa Hernandez.

On June 1, 1963, Pete married the true love of his life Carmen Cruz. She survives at home.

Pete worked and retired from General Motors in Tarrytown, NY where he was a car paint sprayer.

Pete was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed playing dominoes and cards.

In addition to his wife Carmen, Pete is survived by his two sons David and Peter; his grandchildren, Ashley, Alyssa, Alexis, Hunter, Darren, George and Shannon; and his great grandchildren: Heath, Auron, and Ezekiel. He was looking forward to the birth of his great-granddaughter, Adyline. He is also survived by his siblings: Iris, Elba, Tony and Millie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will offered on Thursday at 11:30 am at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls, NY.
