WAPPINGERS FALLS-Pedro Ramirez Velez, 90, an area resident since 2007 and formerly of Suffern, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at home.
Born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on December 8, 1922, he was the son of the late Francisco Ramirez and Carmen Ramirez Velez. He proudly served in the US Army from 1944 to 1946. Pedro was employed in Queens as a plating engineer in the metalworking industry.
His beloved wife, Maria V. Ramirez Lugo predeceased him on November 12, 2007. Pedro is survived by his children, Miriam Collazo of Monroe Township, NJ, Jenny Diaz and her husband Ismael of Wappingers Falls, Gladys Ramirez of Mahwah, NJ, and Micdalia Camacho and her husband Carlos of Spring Hill, FL; her 13 grandchildren; her 7 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Antonia Ramirez of Puerto Rico and Carmin Ramirez of Puerto Rico. She was also predeceased by two sons, Edwin and Alfredo Ramirez.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 4 – 7 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by burial at Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead with military honors.
